Statement of the Problem:Despite the increasing interest of people with hearing impairment and the need to teach them and provide them with environmental concepts and thinking skills, the reality indicates that there are many obstacles and problems related to the curricula presented to them. These problems happen because teachers of hearing impaired pupils still use the traditional methods of teaching and do not care of discovering their pupils’ intelligences or benefit from it in developing their environmental concepts or thinking skills that help them to face live situations and problems with ability and awareness to develop their self-confidence and self-reliance that they should acquire.Because the responsibility to provide them with educational opportunities at school age in a manner that makes them in line with their abilities and potentials and help them develop the maximum level of their performance and the need to provide educational experiences that cover the full dimensions of the hearing impairment and providing appropriate teaching strategies falls on the educational systems of those pupils with hearing impairment, the current research attempts to answer the following main question:What is the effectiveness of a program based on multiple intelligences in developing the environmental concepts, thinking skills and the attitude towards the subject of social studies for the hearing impaired pupils in preparatory stage? Aims of the Research:The research identifies the following aims:- Determining the effectiveness of using the proposed program based on multiple intelligences in developing the environmental concepts for hearing impaired(deaf) pupils in preparatory stage.- Determining the effectiveness of using the proposed program based on multiple intelligences in developing the thinking skills for hearing impaired (deaf) pupils in preparatory stage.- Determining the effectiveness of teaching through a program based on multiple intelligence in developing the attitude towards social studies for hearing impaired (deaf) pupils in preparatory stage.Significance of the Research:The current research is beneficial as follows:1) Identifying prevalent patterns of multiple intelligences among pupils with hearing impairments in the preparatory stage. 2) Investigating the effectiveness of the proposed program in acquiring and developing environmental concepts, thinking skills and attitude towards the subject of social studies.3) Drawing the attention of teachers to the importance of identifying the intelligences or the actual skills for pupils with hearing impairment and investing these skills in the process of learning. 4) Utilizing the tools of research including thinking skills test, achievement test in environmental concepts and a scale towards the subject of social studies, which can be applied to pupils with hearing impairment in the preparatory stage.
