Abstract Research title: ”The Effect of a Process Approach and a Product Approach on Developing Some Writing Skills of Second Year Secondary School Students.” Researcher’s name: Shehab Eldin Mohamed Zaki Mohamed Supervisors: Dr. Magdy Mahdy Ali, Professor of EFL Curriculum and Instruction. This research investigates the effect of using the process approach and the product approach on developing some writing skills among second secondary school students. The researcher adopted the quasi-experimental pre-post test control/experimental group design. The sample of this research included (62) female students, enrolled in the second semester of the academic year 2016-2017 at Alshaheed Mohamed Qasla ( Old Secondary School for Girls). The sample was divided into an experimental group (31) who was presented before the implementation of the suggested program and a control group (31) who was instructed by the traditional method. . To achieve the aim of the research, the researcher used a pre-post test to determine the students’ improving in writing. The results of the pre-post test were statistically analyzed. The research findings revealed that there were significant differences in writing achievement in the favor of the experimental group due to the suggested approaches. Based on the above findings, the researcher presented a number of pedagogical implications and suggestions for English majors.
