Abstract

Tomatoes (Lycopersicon esculentum) are one of the most important vegetable crops for nutritional and industrial purposes. It is one of the most important vegetable crops in the world after potato. Although Egypt is one of top ten leading Tomato, 60% of the cultivated lands in the northern Delta, 20% of the southern Delta and Middle Egypt, and 25% of the Upper Egypt regions are all salt-affected. Egyptian tomato cultivars are preferring the warm growing season, forest free, and the optimum temperature ranged from18°C to 29°C, while low temperature of 13°C at the night leads to the death of most of the pollen and stop fruit set. Based on the climatic recorded data in Egypt for the last four previous years; the difference between day and night temperature is in increase and the lowest recorded temperature at the night was in the average of 7°C. At this low temperature, tomatoes production will be minimized. Therefore, this study aimed to: This study aimed to enhance some Egyptian tomatoes cultivars to low temperature and salinity tolerance via heat or PEG (6000)12% pre-treatments. Then we recorded some physiological and genetical responses. Moreover, we studied some tomato produce treaties under tested stress. The previous aims were investigated through three experiments that were carried out within the period between 2015 to 2017. Cultivars which used in the first experiment were Agyad16(AG), Carmen (CAR), Typhoon (TY), Sakata (SAK), Sereen (SER) and Hybrid super strain b (HB) whereas the second and third experiment were carried out on four cultivars (Agyad16, Carmen, TY and Hybrid super strain b).
