Abstract

Spiritual leadership is one of the modern concepts that has attracted attention, which plays an important role in creating a positive working environment, new working relationships, and motivating subordinates in a manner that contributes to the learning organization’s goals efficiently and effectively. Moreover, quality of work life is the first and foremost factor to retain worthy and to attract talented people into the organization. Aim: This study aimed to explore the relation between spiritual leadership, and quality of work life among nurse educators. Subjects and Method: A descriptive correlational design was used to conduct this study in all academic departments (six departments) at Faculty of Nursing, Port- Said University. The study subjects comprised of 87 nurse educators. Two tools were used for data collection; spiritual leadership questionnaire and quality of work life questionnaire. Results: The current study revealed that the majority of nurse educators had high spiritual leadership (89.7%) and more than three quarters(82.8%) of nurse educators had low level of quality of work life. Conclusion: It was evidenced that there was a positive relation between nurse educators spiritual leadership and their quality of work life. Recommendation: The main recommendations are suggested, for faculty managers they should designing and applying a training program on spiritual leadership as a managerial skills for nurse educators are essential, integrating spiritual leadership into undergraduate and postgraduate nursing curricula, and identify the quality of work life barriers and develop a strategy to overcome.
