Abstract Pyridine derivatives have attracted great interest because of their applications in pharmacology and industries. Especially, 2-aminopyridines are very attentive because of their utilization for the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds. The utilization of 5-chloro-2-(cyanoacetamido)pyridines in the synthesis of biologically active heterocycles such as pyrrole, pyrazole, thiazole, thiophene, pyridine, pyrimidine, and fused heterocycles. Chemical reactivity of 5-chloro-2-(chloroacetamido)pyridine towards some oxygen and sulfur nucleophiles because of the ease replacement of chlorine atom and reactive N-H group, chloroacetamide and its N-substituted derivatives are highly versatile synthetic reagents for the synthesis of aziridine, N-lactam, piperazine, imidazolidine containing compounds and macrocyclic ligands. The biological activity of the synthesized 2-aminopyridines derivatives based towards anti-bacterial properties were explored against Gram-negative bacteria and Gram-positive bacteria, and newly constructed heterocycles derived from 2-aminopyridines derivatives were estimated for their antioxidant activities by using the ABTS Radical Cation Decolorization Assay. |
