Abstract Introduction: Immediate insertion of post extractive single implants in areas of high esthetic value remains a challenge for the clinician because it is difficult to obtain a restoration that can mimic the emergencies and profiles of nature, in perfect symmetry with thenatural, contralateral tooth. To achieve a successful esthetic outcome with a single implantsupported restoration in the anterior region, in fact, it is mandatory to preserve and maintain intact bone, as well as the overlying soft tissues architecture. Aim of the study : This study was designed to evaluate success and stability of immediately placed dental implants using SST and the ability of this technique to prevent or at least decrease the amount of hard and soft tissue alteration. Materials and Methods : This randomized controlled clinical study was conducted on ten adult patients of both sexes. All patients had a maxillary single rooted tooth indicated for extraction and immediate implant placement. Implants were placed in association with SST in which there is a partial extraction of the non-restorable tooth and retaining the buccal part and placement of the implant palatal to it. All patients were assessed clinically to evaluate post-operative pain, peri implant probing depth and implant stability. All patients were also assessed radiographically to evaluate the amount of bone loss vertically and horizontally after 6 months of implant placement. Results: All implants were osseointegrated successfully without any post-operative complications and excellent esthetics. It was found that pain was ranging from mild to moderate and disappear after 2nd and 3rd day. There was a non-significant difference between probing depth at the time of final prosthesis cementation and after 2 months. The amount of bone loss at the period from implant placement to 6 months was statistically insignificant. Conclusion : SST could preserve buccal plate of bone, provide high aesthetic results and improve success of immediate dental implants. |
