Abstract This study was conducted to study the effect of different concentrations of chestnut fruit as powder (2.5 and 5%) and its extracts (250 and 500 mg/kg) on biological, biochemical and histological changes of obese male albino rats. Study the efficiency of different concentrations of chestnut fruit powder and its extracts for increasing weight loss and improve the lipids profile level. Some physiological characteristics such as (liver functions, kidney functions, body weight gain, feed intake, feed efficiency ratio and internal organs weight) in tested albino rats were also measured. Determination of some active compounds (total phenols, total flavonoids, antioxidant activity and identification of phenolic compounds) in chestnut fruit powder and its extracts using HPLC. Obesity was induces in normal healthy male albino rats by fed on high fat diet (20% animal lipid) supplemented in the basal diet and used as a positive control group. |
