Abstract Ten advanced inbred lines of summer squash (cucurbita pepo L.) were crossed in a complete diallel mating design to produce F1 and F1r (Reciprocal) in order to study some genetic parameters and ratios for some economic traits. The obtained genotypes were forty five F1 and forty five F1r. The ninety crosses and their parents were evaluated with two commercial varieties (Aziad and New Eskandarani) for some economic characters in Misr Hytech seed company research station, Egypt in a randomized complete block design with three replications. The data for vegetative growth, flowering, fruits and yield were registered. Statistical analysis was used to determine the significance of obtained data. In addition, Griffing’s approach was used to study general combining ability (GCA), specific combining ability (SCA) and some genetic parameters which control these characters. Data revealed that high significant values of mean squares for |
