Abstract Powdery mildew of pepper, one of the most prevalent and damaging diseases of pepper crops, is caused by the fungal pathogen Leveillula taurica. This disease can be highly destructive both in the field and in greenhouses. Using various fungicides has harmful effects on both humans and animals by precipitating in plant tissues and then transmitting them to humans and animals causing several health complications. Due to these risks, there has become an increased activity and interest in biological control research worldwide to manage plant pathogens. Trichoderma spp. have a lot of promise as biological control agents because of its ability in plant growth promotion and biological control of plant pathogens, have a wide range of modes of action, and are considered relatively safe in terms of the environment and human health. Using Trichoderma spp. has a role in promoting plant growth and enhancing yield parameters, photosynthetic pigments, total phenols, and total soluble sugars when compared with other treatments. Moreover, application of Trichoderma lixii decreased the disease severity compared with control treatment. It can be concluded that application of Trichoderma lixii had a vital role in controlling powdery mildew disease by releasing enzymes and enhancement of nutrients. |
