Abstract Brain tumor is a worldwide public health problem affecting all age groups. Brain tumor denoted accumulation of unusual cells in certain area of the brain. Brain tumors are benign or malignant tumors so; Brain tumors have an impact on psychological and social status in myriad ways not only the body thus the importance of identifying the learning needs of patients undergoing brain tumors surgeries. Aim of the study : Assess learning needs for patients undergoing brain tumors surgeries at Al Mansoura General Hospital. Subjects and Method : This study was conducted at neurosurgical ward at Al Mansoura General Hospital affiliated to Ministry of Health and Population. The study subjects included a purpose sample of 72 adult patients undergoing brain tumor surgeries .One tool for data collection was utilized; interview questionnaire sheet. The main finding of the study : Patients’ learning needs in all investigated domains was high as the total knowledge score for all investigated domains were lower than 50% also, there was a statistically significant relation between patients’ learning needs and their demographic characteristics. Recommendations : This study recommended Designing an educational health program for patients with brain tumor to be more familiar with different aspects of treatment and how to comply with it and Development of Simple booklet written in Arabic language available for all brain tumor patients included all needed information. |
