Abstract Title:The Effect of Using Previews on Developing some LanguageSkills and Motivation of fifth Year Primary Grade PupilsTheresearcher:RehabMustafa Abd El-MawgoodSupervisors:Dr:Eid Abd El-Wahed Ali Dr: Heba Mostafa MohamedAbstractThe present study was conducted to investigate the effect of using a program based on previewson developing fifth grade primary pupils’reading skills and motivationtowardreading. Sixty pupils were randomly selectedand divided into two groups: a treatment group and a non-treatmentgroup, 30 pupils each.The treatmentgroup was taught through using theprogrambased on previews while the non-treatmentgroup received regularinstructions.The study was aquasi-experimentalone.The treatmentgroup and the non-treatment group were submitted to pre-testing and post-testing means of collectingdata. The instrumentsand materialsof the study included a readingskillstest,checklist,amotivation Scale toward reading skills, and aprogrambased on previews. Results of the study revealed: significant statistical difference favoring the treatmentgroup on the post testof the readingskills and positive motivationtoward reading on the motivation scale.Results also revealed that the participants of the treatment group surpassed their counterparts in the non-treatmentgroup on the post testing of the previewsbased program.
