Abstract

Two field experiments were conducted to study the effect of nitrogen fertilizer levels and foliar application treatments on productivity and seed quality of sunflower cultivar Sakha-53 during 2016 and 2017 seasons at El-Muhandis Village in Sherbin Center, Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt. The experiments were carried out in a strip-plot design with three replicates. The vertical plots were assigned to three levels of nitrogen fertilizer levels (20, 25 and 30 kg N/fed). The horizontal plots were allocated to six foliar treatments (twice after 37 and 51 days from sowing) i.e. without, spraying with; water, amino acids (AA), yeast extract (YE), commercial NPK + micro-elements (Fe, Mn and Cu) as Estima-green powder, and the mixture of amino acids, yeast extract and commercial NPK + micro-elements. Mineral fertilizing with 25 kg N/fed ranked secondly after the highest level of N fertilizer. The foliar spraying twice with the combination of amino acids, yeast extract and commercial NPK + micro-elements produced the highest values of all studied characters in both seasons, Followed by foliar spraying sunflower plants twice with commercial NPK + Micro (1.5 g/liter water) in each spraying. Fertilizing with 30 kg N/fed gave the maximum values of all studied characters, with exception oil percentage in seeds during both seasons. It can be concluded that mineral fertilizing sunflower cultivar Sakha-53 with 25 kg N/fed besides foliar spraying twice after 37 and 51 days from sowing with the mixture of amino acids, yeast extract and NPK + Micro (Fe, Mn and Cu) in order to obtain high productivity and seeds quality at the same time reduce production costs and environmental pollution under the environmental conditions of Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt.
