Abstract The Liver was the most commonly injured organ in blunt abdominal trauma. It was followed by the spleen and the kidneys. The Direct Impact, Crush Injury and High-Impact were the commonest cause of injury. There was a male predominance and most patients were in their 3rd and 4th decades. Our study results were in agreement with other studies done elsewhere. MDCT is very sensitive and specific for the diagnosis of blunt abdominal trauma and associated vascular injuries. CT gives valuable information for planning the proper treatment. The portal venous phase is considered the most appropriate phase for scanning. Unstable hemodynamic status should not be considered a contraindication for a MDCT examination if the facility is available, the protocol is well designed, and the patient is well prepared. |
