Abstract DN is one of the most common complications of diabetes mellitus. In peripheral nerves, pathophysiological determinants of DN include: increased production of proinflammatory cytokines, and changes in Nav channels; both in expression and function. In different brain regions of diabetics, there is evidence of expressional reduction in PPARγ mRNAs. This study was conducted to evaluate the possible neuroprotective effects of RN versus PIO in STZ induced-DN in male albino rats, through exploring their effects on some of the parameters accused in its pathophysiology including the inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β and TNF-α), neuronal PPAR-γ expression and Nav1.7 channels. |
