Abstract

The aim of this study is to establish, by means of critical discourse analysis, how and with what purpose in mind, the online posts and tweets of social media report on the relationship between social media and the Syria’s political situation and transformation. This research is set to investigate the textual nature and how the selected discourses are constructed of posts and tweets for the period from 2011 till 2018. The study evaluates how language interaction encodes and decodes meanings and hidden realities through analyzing textual contents of Syrian political situation posts and tweets. The researcher has conducted a critical discourse analysis to investigate how the types of this critical reading reveal what is undervalued, overvalued, included and excluded, as well as the intersection among the discourse.
