Abstract Accreditation is a powerful mechanism to improve the quality of health care and healthcare outcomes. It has many benefits such as increasing in teamwork, it encourages nursing staff to use standardize clinical and administrative procedures, consequently, the accreditation leads to improvement in hospital image and staff satisfaction . Furthermore, it increases the interest and support for the improvement of the quality achieved by the leaders, the sense of community among the hospital staff, and the consideration and concern for one another. The patients are considered as the clients of the health services and the target that the hospital aims to satisfy their needs. Hence; with the awareness of the patients of the accreditation, patients are be involved in their treatment decisions, they are be treated with dignity and respect, they express more satisfaction and they will make sure that their rights are protected .When the patients are aware of the hospital accreditation, they become aware of the care they receive and the rights and responsibilities they must have. The results, at the end, the patients become more satisfied. The purpose of the study was to assess the awareness of nursing staff and patients regarding hospital accreditation. Settings : Menoufia University hospitals which include (The Emergency Hospital , The Main Hospital ,The Speciality Hospital , The For profit Hospital and Oncology Institute ) , Shebin-Elkom Teaching Hospital , National Liver Institute (NLI) and El-Helal Governmental Hospital in Menoufia Governate. Design: A descriptive comparative design was used to carry out this study. A simple random sample of 500 nursing staff, who accepted to participate in the study and 221 patients. |
