Abstract The present investigation was conducted to isolate, identify and determine the lipid concentration of oleaginous fungal isolates recovered from rhizospheric soil and cereal grains samples collected from Suez governorate, Egypt for lipid production. Lipid content was estimated in 135 fungal isolates and the isolate which characterized by being the highest lipid producer was Cunninghamella echinulate 1194. Optimal cultural conditions for highest lipid production by Cunninghamella echinulata 1194 was achieved by designing two fermentation media and using two types of agro-industrial wastes. Transesterification to biodiesel by ethanol-sulphuric acid-chloroform solvent system presenting highiest concentrations of fatty acids (83.65 %). |
