Abstract

Siganus rivulatus is one of the most successful Lessepsian migrant fish that able to adapted with the algal resources in the surrounding habitats. The main food items in Red Sea were red algae, brown algae and seagrass, while green algae were the main one in Suez Canal and Mediterranean. All of morphometric measurements was significant lower in new environments, however, still had the same meristic equation. Spring was the reproductive season, with little extension to summer in Red Sea. Aging was performed by otolith; the maximum age was 6 years in Red Sea and 4 years in new habitats. The von Bertalanffy growth constants (L∞, K and t0) were estimated. The length frequency distribution data was used to evaluate the mortality rates. The exploitation rates showed overexploitation in three stocks of S. rivulatus. Therefore, this study recommended to reduce the exploitation from 0.738 to 0.372y-1 in Red Sea from 0.636y-1 in Suez Canal and 0.661y-1 in Mediterranean to 0.355y-1.
