Abstract In this research a comparative study was made in the performance and economics of electric power stations, where a mathematical model was made to compare the marginal cost over the life of the stations , taking into consideration in building this model both the investment cost , the fuel cost , the operating and maintenance cost . It was built the assumes and calculation of all costs divided by all the electricity generated over the life span. The model was applied to 17 electrical technologies with their technical, economic and environmental characteristics. The performance and costs of electricity production were also studied using the following parameters, the life span, the utility factor and the plant efficiency. The quantities of fuel consumed the unit price of fuel, the rate of interest or discount, the electrical energy generated annually and the total electrical energy produced during the expected operational life, all of which are of the three cost elements. A thermodynamic analysis was also built and performed for the nuclear power reactors, in addition to the conventional and renewable thermal plants, to find out the fuel consumption and cost. |
