Abstract General introduction about Natural Products: Natural products (NPs) are natural chemical constituents produced by living organisms found in nature. For instance; marine, algae, fungi, viruses, microbes, bacteria, animals, plants, and insects. NPs are considered to be the biochemical factory that is responsible for the biochemical synthesis of both primary and secondary metabolites. Primary metabolites play a key metabolic role and a vital role in organism survival as well as in photosynthesis, respiration, nutrition, and reproduction. In contrast, secondary metabolites play an important role in the adaptation of the organism to the surrounding environment and protection from enemies. Throughout the ages, NPs have been the most powerful source of potential drug leads. The earliest records of NPs were depicted using cuneiform writings on clay tablets in Mesopotamia (2600 B.C.) for treating colds, coughs, and inflammations. Different records |
