Abstract ” Because the ability of salicylates to treat inflammation, pain syndromes, brain and cardiovascular disorders and decrease the side effects of chemotherapeutic drugs, the present study was designed to investigate the possible effects of loaded sodium salicylates on nanoparticles to treat brain toxicity induced by cisplatin and decrease the drug side effects. Rats were randomly divided into five equal groups, with ten rats in each group. Rats were given saline I.P. [group 1] or cis I.P. [20 mg/kg BW] [group 2] or carrier I.P. 100 mg/kg BW /day [group 3]. Some groups also received I.P. injection of SiSc-NPs [100 mg/kg BW] either alone [group 4] or with cis [group 5]. The SiSc-NPs, was administered for three weeks alone before the injection of cis and then were continued for one week. The obtained results indicate that sodium salicylate loaded on nanoparticles decrease oxidative stress markers such as malondialdehyde (MDA), nitric oxide (NO), and paraoxonase-1 (PON-1) activity in brain. There were also decreased Monocyte Chemo-attractant Protein-1 (MCP-1) activities and NF-kβ level of brain tissue. Butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) activities of brain tissue increased after Si-ScNPs treatment. Histopathological examination was also carried out in this study, histopathological results indicated that cisplatin group showed several neurodegenerative changes: one the other hand, group treated with Si-Sc-NPs +Cis showed improvement in almost brain structure and mild pyknotic nuclei and apoptotic neurons were observed. |
