Abstract The study area extends on shore of the Western side of Gulf of Suez covering an area of about 800 km2 forming a part of the great Tertiary plateau of the Northern Eastern Desert of Egypt Lithostratigraphically the studied sequence is divided to pre-rift Middle Eocene carbonates of the Observatory Sannor and Maadi Formations and unconformably overlain by syn-rift Oligocene lower Miocene siliciclastics of the Gabal El Ahmar and Hagul Formations. |
