Abstract

Hepatocellular carcinoma is a potentially life-threatening cancer. Doxorubicin is a broad-spectrum anticancer agent. Metformin used in treatment of type 2 diabetes and believed to have a preventive and curative effect against cancer. Amygdalin is a natural glycoside believed to be effective in many types of cancer. We aimed to evaluate the anti-tumor activity of amygdalin, metformin, or their combination versus doxorubicin on HCC in-vitro and in-vivo as well as tried to study the events that takes place at the cellular level to give these results. The combination of amygdalin plus metformin was more effective than using each drug alone.
