Abstract This study was aimed at the preparation of carbon nanotubes (CNT) and a composite of copper and carbon nanoparticles (Cu-C NPs) using the arc discharge technique and using these nanomaterials as an application in the treatment of water contaminated by dyes. An arc discharge system is a simple way to prepare nanomaterials, it consists of a DC power supply in which its terminals are connected with the two electrodes immersed in a dielectric medium (deionized water). When the two electrodes come close enough to each other, a spark occurs, resulting in the production of nanomaterial. The temperatures, the form of the electrode, and the dielectric medium have a significant impact on yield. |
