Abstract Breast conserving surgery (BCS) and adjuvant radiation therapy became a standard treatment strategy for breast cancer treatment with the same survival results as mastectomy. Resection of more than 20% of the breast tissue may result in defects and may negatively affect the aesthetic outcome.Different oncoplastic techniques have been developed to overcome the poor aesthetic outcome in challenging breast defects after BCS. Perforator flaps are one of the volume replacement oncoplastic techniques that have been used in partial breast reconstruction. In this prospective study, twenty-six cases in our institute underwent BCS for tumors located in the outer quadrants with immediate reconstruction by lateral chest wall perforator flaps in the period from October 2019 to November 2020. Twenty-four patients underwent LICAP flap, while one patient underwent LTAP flap, and a combined flap was performed in one patient. We used two methods; the propeller method when skin was needed to be resected with the tumor in 76.92 of the patients, and the turnover method when there was no need to excise skin in 23.08 % of the patients |
