Abstract Objectives ;To compare fresh and frozen embryo transfer in cases of polycystic ovaries (PCOS) undergoing IVF treatment as regards IVF outcome.Methods A total of 118 patients with PCOS who presented to Kasr-Al Ainy Obstetrics outpatient clinic seeking infertility therapy between February 2019 and May 2021 were enrolled prospectively.They were all viable candidates for IVF. Patients were randomized into two groups: fresh embryo transfer group and frozen embryo transfer group. Follow up of the patients during pregnancy until end of second trimester. Both groups were compared as regards: Chemical pregnancy :Serum Ý-hCG was measured to determine pregnancy 14 days after embryo transfer.Clinical pregnancy: Transvaginal Ultrasound 35 days after embryo transfer to check fetal pulsations. Ongoing pregnancy rate: check of fetal pulsations by US at 12 weeks. Ectopic pregnancy Pregnancy loss and miscarriage Congenital anomaly evident by 1st and 2nd trimester anomaly scan. OHSS and its grade Results After comparing both groups it was found that chemical, clinical and ongoing pregnancy rate is slightly higher among frozen embryo transfer group. OHSS rate was significantly higher in the fresh embryo transfer group as expected. Conclusion Frozen embryo transfer among PCOS patients has the upper hand in minimizing OHSS and its complications. Frozen embryo transfer has the upper hand over fresh embryo transfer in cases of PCOSas regards clinical, chemical and ongoing pregnancy rate |
