Abstract The current study aimed to evaluate parental, expectations and experiences about cochlear implants and to explore the challenges they might face.The sample of this study included 50 Egyptian children with cochlear implants (CIs) and their parents. In our study we used the questionnaire which was specially designed for parents and used Apple tool to evaluate language development of CI .The study showed the high expectations of parents in terms of academic achievement, while there were low expectations about well being and future life. Proper counseling on realistic expectations should be given at the different implantation stages |
