المستخلص Aim of the research The present study aims to investigate the effect of Galyean strategy for guided imagery in science education on developing generative thinking skills among third year preparatory school students. In order to achieve this goal, the researcher adopted the experimental method based on the design of two equivalent groups; the experimental group and the control group. Each of which consisted of (24 students) among the third year preparatory school students at Shandaweel Island and Shendwell Secondary Preparatory Institute for Girls, Sohag governorate. The experimental group was taught a unit of the curriculum of science named ” the universe and the solar system” using Galyean strategy for guided imagery, while the control group was taught the same unit using the traditional method. The proposed strategy was implemented. Then the (instrument – tool) of the study ,which was a test of generative thinking skills, was administered for the first time. After that, the target unit ” the unity of the universe and the solar system” was taught for the experimental group using Galyean strategy for guided imagery, while the control group was taught the same unit using the traditional method. Then the post test was administered for both groups, and the data were subjected to statistical analysis. The results of the study revealed that Galyean strategy for guided imagery in science education has a great effect on developing generative thinking skills among third year preparatory school students. In light of the results of the study the following recommendations are presented;; encouraging teachers to adopt Galyean strategy for guided imagery in teaching science;; preparing a teacher guide based on Galyean strategy for guided imagery in order to develop teaching techniques and strategies ; and exerting more efforts to develop the different thinking skills specially the generative skills with their generative and exploratory dimensions. |
