Abstract In this work we focused on development of new potentiometric sensors for Al(III) and Cd(II) ions determination based on Schiff base ligands, (N1E,N2E)-N1,N2-bis(furan-2-ylmethylene)oxalamide and (5Z,15Z)-7,8,9,10, 11,12,13,14,22,23-decahydrodibenzo[e,s][1,4]dioxa[8,11,14,17]tetraazacyclo icosine, respectively as electroactive materials. The response of the proposed electrodes was rapid and pH independent for broad concentration range. Matched potential (MPM) and separate solution (SSM) methods were used for selectivity coefficients determination. The sensors exhibited a fast response time, less than 10 s. The electrodes exhibited relatively long operational lifetime.Analytical application of the electrodes has been investigated for the quantitative determination of Al(III) ion in water samples and pharmaceutical samples and determination of Cd(II) ion in water samples. The obtained results were in a good agreement with those obtained using the official methods. The results obtained were satisfactory with good percentage recovery |
