Abstract

Background: high tone power therapy is a new quantum leap in the field of electro therapy with a primary aim directing towards the effect on the metabolism of cells. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of high tone power therapy on neurophysiological measures and function outcome in patients with diabetic neuropathy. Methodology: forty diabetic neuropathy patients were assigned into two equal groups (group I and II): group (I) received high tone power therapy in addition to selected physical therapy program (Gentle passive stretching for both Upper limb (UL) & Lower limb (LL) selected muscles, Graduated active range of motion (AROM) exercises for both (UL) & (LL) joints, Balance training {Wobble board training} and graduated gait training). For 10 sessions every other day, each session for 2 hours (60 minutes for high tone power therapy and 60 minutes for selected physical therapy program), while group (II) received selected physical therapy program only same as group I. For 10 sessions every other day, each session for 1 hour. Patients were assessed by sensorimotor nerve conduction and F-wave studies through using NIHON KOHDEN, JAPAN, Neuro pack M1 EP/EMG measuring system MEB-9200/9300 and Katz Index of Independence for function outcome. Results: This study revealed that neurophysiological measures are significantly improved in group I but not significantly improved in group II and Katz Index of Independence (Function outcome) is significantly improved in both groups with the best improvement results for group I
