المستخلص The current research aimed at investigating the effect of a program based on STEAM approach and Common Core State Standards for Mathematics on developing the mathematical concepts and skills and the lateral thinking skills by kindergarten children in the city of Mansoura. The research sample consisted of (17) boys and girls of the second kindergarten level, divided into two groups, an experimental group of (10) children and a control group of (7). The researcher developed a program based on STEAM approach and Common Core State Standards for Mathematics and a workshops for the teachers of the Childhood Care and Development Center at Mansoura University, an activity book, and three tests to measure the mathematical concepts of the kindergarten children, the mathematical skills of the kindergarten children and the lateral thinking skills of the kindergarten children. The results revealed that : 1-There is a statistically significant difference between the mean ranks of the experimental group and those of the control group on the post mathematical concepts test in favor of the experimental group at the (0.05) significance level. There is also a statistically significant difference between the mean ranks of the experimental group on the pre and post administrations of the mathematical concepts test in favor of the post-administration at the (0.05) significance level. The effect size of the experimental treatment of the research program on the total score of the whole mathematical concepts test was (88.7%), which indicates a large effect size. 2-There is a statistically significant difference between the mean ranks of the experimental group and those of the control group on the post mathematical skills test in favor of the experimental group at the (0.05) significance level. There is also a statistically significant difference between the mean ranks of the experimental group on the pre and post administrations of the mathematical skills test in favor of the post-administration at the (0.05) significance level. The effect size of the experimental treatment of the research program on the total score of the whole mathematical skills test was (88.6%), which indicates a large effect size. 3-There is a statistically significant difference between the mean ranks of the experimental and those of the control group on the post lateral thinking test in favor of the experimental group at the significance level of (0.05). There is also a statistically significant difference between the mean ranks of the experimental group on the pre and post administrations of the lateral test in favor of the post-administration at the significance level of (0.05). The effect size of the experimental treatment of the research program on the total score of the whole lateral thinking test was (88.8%), which indicates a large effect size. |
