Abstract

Objective: This study is to evaluate the accuracy of digital panoramic radiography with different Frankfort plane orientations and CBCT in Linear measurement as well as postoperative dental implant assessment.and answer the question if digital panoramic radiograph with different Frankfort plane accurate as cone-beam CT and which is better for post-operative dental implant assessment? Material and method : The study was performed on seven dry mandibles , free from any fractures or pathological lesions. Either edentulous or partially edentulous In each mandible, three endo-osseous implants were inserted in one side while in the other side three sites were marked using guttapercha cones which were fixed to the buccal surface of the mandible using adhesive strips. In each prepared implant site, an acrylic resin mixed with barium sulphate in a ratio of 4:1 was inserted before implants insertiont. In each site marked with guttapercha, the vertical height of the mandible was measured using a digital caliper. Then each mandible was imaged using digital panoramic radiography and cone beam computed tomography. 1-Conclusion: Linear measurements driven from CBCT images are more accurate than measurements driven from panoramic images, Panoramic image is ideal for postoperative implant-bone interface assessment compared to CBCT image
