Abstract In this study, six microalgal species (Chlorella vulgaris, Dictyochloropsis splendida, Muriella sp., Nostoc muscorum, Anabaena oryzae and Nostoc linckia) were screened for Antioxidant activity and their phytochemicals. The antioxidant activity and bioactive compounds of C. vulgaris and N.linckia were significantly higher than those of the other tested species (p< 0.05) so they were selected for further studies in this thesis. Furthermore, the effect of stress culture conditions on the growth, phytochemicals, antioxidant enzymes, antioxidant, anticancer, antimicrobial, antiviral activities and Peroxide value of sunflower oil of promising microalgal species extracts were studied. Interpretation and identification of active ingredients separated from promising fractionated extracts (by using chromatographic and spectroscopic analyses) as well as determination of their antioxidant and anticancer activity.
