Abstract Medicinal and aromatic plants are an accessible affordable culturally appreciate source of primary health care for more than 80% of world{u2019}s population. Salinity has become more important to the scientific and political agenda. Over 6% of the world{u2019}s total land area and 20 of irrigated land salt-affected.The Mediterranean basin is one of the richest regions in medicinal plant biodiversity on earth. Organic and biofertilizers has many advantages e.g. enhancing soil biological activity which improve nutrient mobilization enhancing root growth due to improves soil properties.Two pot experiments were conduced in the greenhouse of own farm at El-Fayoum governorate to evaluate the response of the two medicinal plants namely marjoram and thyme to application of organic fertilizers (vermicompost and compost) and PGPR as biofertilizers.The obtained results indicated that the treatments which treated by vermicompost as organic fertilizer gave the highest values for all tested parameters and scored significant differences as compared to other tested treatments (compost and PGPR) through the two seasons at the two sample soil locations.Application of both bio and organic fertilizers as well as cultivated both marjoram and thyme as such led to enhance of soil acidity, soil salinity and soil content of organic matter and gave lower values for pH, EC and OM as compared to these values which obtained before treatments were application |
