المستخلص 163 This thesis is a dissertation submitted to obtain a master’s degree in philosophy, entitled (Environmental Ethics for Tom Reagan and Peter Singer, ”An Analytical Study in Animal Rights”). In the beginning, she presented the historical roots of animals, starting with the ”ancient oriental thought”, passing through the ”Greek philosophy” of Aristotle, as well as the ”Christian thought” of St. Augustine, then the image of the animal in Islam from the vision of Al-Jahiz, as well as the animal in modern philosophy. from the perspective of ”Jeremy Bentham”, and then turned to the knowledge of the most important contemporary philosophers in environmental ethics and animal rights, namely, ”Tom Reagan and Peter Singer”, their claim was a lifeline for animals, Reagan gave animals ”inherent value” and made them ”subjects of life.”. Singer advocated equality between animals and humans and between animals and humans, and was influenced by Jeremy Bentham’s utilitarianism. After presenting their vision, the researcher identified points of agreement and disagreement between them. In this study, the ”analytical, historical, comparative and critical” method was used. The study included four chapters, each chapter is preceded by an introduction and ends with a commentary, and then a conclusion removed with the most important findings in this research, and the following is a statement of the contents of the study: |
