Abstract The main aim for any construction projects is to make balance between time, cost and quality. All members in construction projects (managers, engineers, workers...etc.) try to find the ideal methods to achieve less time with less cost and best quality. With the development of civilization, the projects become more complicated and need more scientific and development methods to satisfy the new development. Many methods and theories began to appear to make full control on project management and to face the new types of construction projects. Building Information Modeling (BIM) is one of the new methods which appeared to satisfy the development of construction projects. This study consists of three main phases. The first phase was statistical analysis of questionnaire answers which have been collected from different engineering companies in Egypt to express the random opinion of engineers about using BIM in Egyptian construction projects. The second phase was analysis of two selected case studies which aimed to validate the process protocol. Case studies were selected because of their BIM implementation in high rise buildings projects. The outcome showed that all the section of study criteria are important and need to be accommodated to strengthen the process protocol. The main goal of the third and last phase was to use programming code that was made using Dynamo program to help in modeling structural rectangular cross reduction of the columns on the Revit model, which will consume a lot of time if it happened manually. This helps in the ease of structural modification and the selection of the best structural design system. This programming code showed the validation and updating of the process protocol. |
