Abstract

Educational environment is considered as an essential factor in determining level of motivation to learn. The nursing students get more motivated through the qualified educational environment. Aim of the study: To assess therelationship between educational environment and motivation to learn among diploma nursing students at Ismailia Governorate. Design: Correlational descriptive design was used in the study. Setting:The present study was carried out at all diploma nursing schools in Ismailia GovernorateSample: A comprehensive sample of diploma nursing students (189) at final and third grade included in the studyTools of data collection: The data were collected using two tools named Dundee ready Educational Environment measurement and Science MotivationQuestionnaire.Results:Student’s perception of atmosphere scored the highest mean percentage whereas, the student’s academic self- perception scored the lowest mean percentage, the highest percentage at low level of motivation to learn was intrinsic motivation, where the highest percentage at moderate level was self determination to learn nursing with statistically significant difference. Also, it was found that the highest percentage of total motivation recorded low level. Compared to other levelsConclusion:Diploma nursing students perceive plenty of problems regarding to their educational environment, where majority of them had low level of motivation to learn.Recommendations: Improvement is required for the educational environment which isin turn effect on student motivation to learn.
