Abstract Imaging evaluation of the different gynecologic lesions basically depends on the conventional MRI which provides excellent anatomical information. Adding functional MRI sequences such as DWI, volumetric histogram diffusion-based metrics, DTI, perfusion imaging with and without contrast as well as MRS which are noninvasive in vivo techniques, proved to be valuable in evaluating different uterine and extra uterine lesions. This study aimed to assess the role of different functional MRI techniques in diagnosis of different gynecological malignancies. This study was carried out at the MRI unit of the radiology department at Mansoura University Hospitals from February 2020 till February 2022. It included 100 female patients; Sixty-six had benign lesions & 34 had malignant lesions, the mean age of the studied patients with benign lesions was 43.5 years versus 61.5 years for malignant lesions with statistically significant difference between them. The most common benign lesion was fibroid, while the most common malignant lesion was endometrial &cervical carcinoma. Our study revealed the followings: - -As regard Conventional MRI; the differentiating point between benign and malignant gynecologic lesions was the lesion outline, T2WI SI and the associated wall thickness & presence of papillary nodules within the ovarian lesions. |
