Abstract This study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of five plant extracts namely, Portulaca oleracea, Portulaca pilosa, Chenopodium album, Calotropis procera and Anagallis arvensis, on two spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch. Plant materials were obtained from different fields of Fayoum Governorate. Different parts of plants were extracted either by chloroform or methanol solvent to bioassay their effects by using direct spray technique. The results concluded that leaves of A. arvensis which extracted by chloroform and C. procera which extracted by methanol have a great acaricidal potential when used LC50 concentration. So we tried to convert this crude plant extracts to commercial formulation to apply on T. urticae and tested this crude extract and commercial formulation compared with the acaricidal “Vertimec” to evaluate this activity on biological aspects and life table parameters. Our result refers to the highest effect of A. arvensis extract and their formulation on life table parameters showed significant reduction in rm, Ro and λ, each of A. arvensis extract and formulation caused a reduction in longevity and survival from 0.344 in control to 0.308, 0.299 female/female/day in case of treated ones. The net reproductive rate, Ro decreased from 54.22 in control to 33.36, 32.40 female/generation, the mean generation time (T) increased from 11.62 in control to 11.73 in treated females. Also, fecundity causes a reduction in λ. |
