Abstract This study aims to obtain evidence that aerobic exercise influences on postmenopausal hypertension and to provide physical therapists with guidelines to improve hypertension in postmenopausal women using aerobic exercises.Searching in MEDLINE (PubMed), Google Scholar, pedro and Cochrane, detailed searching the electronic data base from 2007 up to 2018 was conducted and only randomized controlled trials (RCTs) studying the effect of aerobic exercise on postmenopausal hypertensive women were included according to the study{u2019}s inclusion and exclusion criteria. Assessment of methodological quality of the studies were performed using pedro scale. As a result, a total of six randomized controlled trials with 568 samples were included. Based on the meta-analysis results, there were significant reductions of SBP after aerobics, compared with control (Mean Difference = -7.13, 95% Confidence Interval = -7.7 to {u2013} 6.55) also there was significant reduction of DBP after aerobic exercise in comparison to control group (MD = -2.96, 95%CI = -3.49 to {u2013} 2.43), which confirm the effect of aerobic exercise in reduction of elevated systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure of postmenopausal hypertensive women. The current level of evidence to support the effectiveness of aerobic exercise on postmenopausal hypertension which was included in meta-analysis is strong |
