Abstract

Background: Fractures of the distal femur account for 7% of all femoral fractures, whether supracondylar or intercondylar have been historically difficult to treat because of their unstable nature and degree of comminution. The proximity of these fractures to knee joint further makes full range of motion and function difficult. The incidence of malunion, nonunion, and infection is also high. Anatomical reduction of the articular surface, restoration of limb alingement, and early mobilization have shown to be effective ways of managing most distal femoral fractures. Aim: To compare Dynamic Condylar Screw versus Retrograde Intramedullary Supracondylar Nail for treatment of Distal Femoral Fractures. Materials and methods: Prospective case of series study for 30 patients diagnosed with fracture distal femur divided equally into 2 group ,were ; Fixed by Retrograde Intramedullary Nail.group1 group2; Fixed by Dynamic Condylar Screw Results; There were significant differences in terms of cumulative rate of union , range of motion of the knee, blood loss , favor Retrograde Nail. No significant difference regarding operative time, total hospital stay, Lower Extremity function score(LEFS), Visual Analogue Score (VAS) and complication
