Abstract Objective: Evaluation of the success of immediate implantation with closed sinus lift in chronically infected maxillary molar / premolar sockets. Ten patients participated in this study (5 males and 5 females with a mean age of 36 years) free of any systemic diseases that would affect bone formation, free of chronic sinusitis and were non-smokers. Each patient had at least one chronically infected maxillary premolar / molar tooth or remaining root with at least 6mm bone height from the maxillary sinus floor. Results: The results showed a mean bone gain of 3.88 mm mesio-distally and 3.9 mm bucco-palatally.The density of the newly formed bone was 50% of the density of the adjacent alveolar bone before loading of the implant. The overall success rate was 90% . Conclusion: from this study we can conclude that immediate implantation with closed sinus lift in a chronically infected posterior maxillary tooth can be considered a reliable and a predictable technique |
