Abstract The main objectives of this investigation were studying: (1) The effect of seasons, maturity level and their interaction on the fiber fine structure and physical and mechanical properties. (2) The relationship between fiber fine structure and fiber physical properties. Three Egyptian cotton genotypes namely, G.96 as Extra Long Staple variety(ELS), G.94 as Delta long staple variety (Delta LS) and G.95 as Upper Egypt long staple variety (Upper Egypt LS) were used in this study. The lint samples were selected from the 2018 and 2019 seasons yield traits of maintenance of varieties genetic purity programs of cotton research institute delivered to HVI Lab, cotton fiber research section, cotton research institute (CRI), Agricultural Research Center (ARC). The mature fiber level having the best values of most traits under study; fiber fine microscopic properties perimeter, area cross section, area lumen area secondary cell wall and degree of thickening. maturity ratio and maturity percent) of image analysis system and (hair weight by cutter method) and convolution number and reversals number by polarized microscope) and fiber length, fiber strength and elongation properties from HVI data in Egyptian cotton variety. The over mature or over immature is it the negative effect on fiber quality properties |
