Abstract It’s a bare fact that students these days lack enthusiasm, motivation and interest to learn English in a conventional way, this is the main reason why teachers should keep an eye on the more engaging and involving activities, One of the progressive ways to bring variety into the classroom is integrating English songs in the adult EFL classes. Since learning to speak English is a really challenging undertaking, teachers make every effort to make it simpler for their students. One of the newest techniques for teaching English speaking is through the use of English folk tunes. The purpose of this study is to determine whether teaching university students English through the use of English folk music is successful. The study used a semi-experimental methodology. Twenty first-year university students from the Maritime Academy of Sciences and Maritime Transport in Cairo made up the study sample. They were equally divided into two groups for the study: an experimental group and a control group. English folk songs were used to teach students in the experimental group how to speak the language.
