Abstract Using an alternate design for air distribution system inside the aircraft, this is depending mainly on existing two air inlets in the seats back for providing a fresh cooled air to the breathing zone (personal ventilation). Additionally, it is integrating with under floor air distribution (UFAD) system with different locations of outlets in order to study its effect on the thermal comfort and how it may make an air shield between the passengers, subsequently, increasing the probability of reducing the spreading of diseases due to airborne contaminates between the passengers. Applying this system on the different class’s configurations of the airplane (economy, premium economy and business classes) and study the effect of increasing the distances between the seats and also the rows of the aircraft. The results showed that, this suggested system has the best results for PPD and PMV in the business class setup, and dividing the floor inlet air to be between the passengers, that improved the thermal comfort in the economy class.
