Abstract Abstract: The present study was aimed to assessment of the possible cardiovascular protective potential of flaxseed (FO) and sun flower (SFO) seeds oils againstatherosclerosis in rats induced by high cholesterol diet (HCD), the results were compared with a reference drug for the treatment of atherosclerosis (rosuvastatin) and lasted for 12 weeks. The gas chromatography was used to estimate the percentage of fatty acids andvitamin E in FO and SFO. Our result demonstrated that there was generally dose-response beneficial decrease in the cardiac diagnostic enzymes, inflammatory response, and markers of oxidative stress after administration of flax seed oil and rosuvastatin to hyperlipidemic rats. These biochemical results were corroborated with the histological studies of aortic tissues. Flaxseed oil has more effective protection than sunflower against oxidative cardiovascular injure induced by feeding on HCD |
