Abstract Ultrasound strain elastography has been widely used to assess tissue mechanical properties. It provides a complementary tool to diagnose tumors and cardiovascular diseases. However, ultrasound elastography is only available on high-end ultrasound machines, and/or requires an access to the radio frequency (RF) raw ultrasound signals that are not available on most ultrasound machines. This wok developed and assessed a novel manufacturer-independent elastography ultrasound technique that uses conventional grayscale ultrasound images to calculate strain elastography. The technique can be integrated with commercially available ultrasound machines to reconstruct strain using freehand quasi-static compression |
