Abstract New binary and ternary complexes of ambroxol drug (AMX) (2-amino-3,5- dibromo-N-[trans-4-hydroxycyclohexyl] benzylamine) as primary ligand, N,N,N{u2035},N{u2035}-tetramethylethylene diamine (TMEDA) and glycine (Gly) as secondary ligands with some transition metal ions were prepared. The metal complexes were synthesized and characterized using different physico-chemical studies as elemental analyses, melting point, UV/Visible, IR, ¹H NMR, mass spectra, electronic spectra, magnetic susceptibility, conductivity measurements and thermal analyses (TG and DTG). The antimicrobial activity of AMX and its binary and ternary chelates against Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis (G+), Escherichia coli and Salmonella species (G-) and Candida albicans and Aspergillus fumigatus fungi were screened in order to give an idea about the effect of binding metal ions to AMX drug |
