المستخلص This thesis introduces a novel method of active magnetic control of microdroplets inside ferrofluid-based microfluidic devices. In this work, a miniature electrop-ermanent magnet (EPM) is integrated with a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) microfluidic chip to achieve on-demand active control over the size of micro- droplets generated by a cross-junction microchannel. Moreover, on-demand size-based magnetic droplet sorting was demonstrated by coupling the EPM with conventional permanent magnets. This research proves that EPM is a capable magnetic actuator for active control inside ferrofluid-based microfluidic chips, which may well open the door to new applications in the field of microfluidics |
