Abstract The otorhinolaryngologists are daily confronted with the patients having symptoms because of a deviated nasal septum. An extremely deviated septum that completely obstructs a nasal passage undoubtedly needs surgery. However, with the less pronounced deformities and symptoms, surgeons are often left to trust their own assessment of the degree of obstruction to make therapeutic decisions that ultimately involve surgery in majority of the cases.
